Spread the Word
Hello, darlings!
I'm very excited about the progress made with this blog so far. A few followers, a few hundred hits - not bad for little old me! I really appreciate your support.
Since I get a whole, blissful week off for Thanksgiving, I'm going to be working hard on finishing my current story in progress. That means that, muses willing, the story might just be available for sale within a a few weeks.
So, if you wouldn't mind to continue being absolutely wonderful, please help me spread the word. Tell your friends, anyone you think might be interested, and link them to the blog! You'll have my eternal gratitude.

Banner Found
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a banner! Thank you, @nlfrederick. My dear Nicole, where would I be without you?
Feel free to let us know what you think! I'm sure the artist would appreciate it. :)

Answering Your Questions
I've had a few questions in comments about the preview I posted here, and since Blogger has no comment-response feature (man, get with the times, Blogger), I thought I'd make a post for some answers and some more info on the piece.
The story I'm working on is currently untitled. I've been calling it by the names of the main characters (Candace and Spencer), which could be a permanent title if I decided to make this into a series of stories. Currently, the piece is sitting just shy of 3000 words, and I think by the time it's done, it will be over 10k, maybe closer to 15k.
I am looking to self-publish this piece. The idea came from all of the people who have told me over the years that I really ought to make some money off my writing. I'd always brushed off those comments, given that I had no original works to "sell," and I'd never been very confident in writing original works. I was much happier continuing in the fanfiction world.
After four creative writing classes, I've become a great deal more secure in my original writing, and I think it's time to give it a go. At worst, it will be a trial run and a learning experience. At best, it will allow me to get my original work to more readers and hopefully supplement my aching bank account.
The plan is, once the work is finished and well-edited, to have an order form available here for anyone who wishes to read the full work. There will likely be a more polished preview beforehand. The order form will allow me to send an invoice via PayPal to each "customer," and once payment is made, I'll send the story in a PDF file.
The price will be something like $1.50, I think. Given the short length of the work, I wouldn't set the price any higher, but I might go lower, as supply and demand dictate.
So there's my master plan for you! If you have any questions, ideas, comments, I'd be happy to hear them.

Banner Wanted
As you may have noticed, this blog is a wee bit plain. When it comes to writing, I'm not completely lost...but when it comes to web design? Yeah, completely.
So if anyone would like to take a stab at a pretty banner for the top of this page, please, shoot me an e-mail at amethyst.jackson@gmail.com or drop me a line on Twitter @amethystjackson.

What I'm Working on Now
Here's a tiny preview of what I'm working on right now:
“I'll give you two hundred dollars to take that man home with you and seduce him,” Lorrie challenged.
'That man' was leaning against the bar, a rumpled combination of sex-on-legs and don't-give-a-fuck. Yeah, he was definitely seduction-worthy.
Candace took a quiet moment to curse her friend to the depths of hell for putting the thought into her head. This wasn't unusual. Lorrie took every opportunity to goad her, knowing Candace's crippling shyness would keep her nursing a drink in the corner of whatever bar or club they happened to be visiting.
Deep down, Candace knew her friend was only trying to help, albeit in her own warped way, but offering bribes was a new low. Lorrie was the only person in the world who knew how much Candace struggled financially – aside from all the financial institutions that rejected her, anyway. It was bad enough that Lorrie bought all the drinks. Bad enough that she'd spent five years and over a hundred grand obtaining a useless degree. Bad enough that she was living on Ramen and PBJ's. Taunting her with the prospet of cash was just mean.
“Oh, c'mon, Candy. Talking to men isn't that bad, and a good lay would help with all that anxiety you carry around. Just look at that man, for goodness' sake.”
“Don't call me Candy. It makes me sound like a stripper.” Of course, she was already looking, studying the specimen in question. She was surprised Lorrie had even noticed him – he was without question Candace's type. Lorrie liked muscles, lots of them, and All-American looks. This guy was tall and lean and scruffy, and Candace was intrigued. Of course she was. The way his grey T-shirt hugged his chest and arms pretty much guaranteed her attention. But she only knew how to let men come to her, and even that left her sweaty-palmed and flustered.
